Drake’s music
is making headlines everywhere. As the lyrical lumberman he is, Drizzy adds yet
another piece of musical firewood to the Meek Mill flames.
So, the score
is now Drake 3 – Mill 0. It seems that Drake is on a mission to keep his
reputation intact. Early Wednesday morning, Drizzy released “Back to Back,”
another track geared at clearing any smoke from Meek Mill’s ghostwriter
allegations.
In this
particular track, Drake’s lyrics focus on how Mill seems to be riding Nicki
Minaj’s fame train. Though Meek was gaining establishment with Maybach Music —
and still is — many speculators believe that he’s been in the spotlight a lot
more because of his connection to Minaj.
As reports Daily
Beast, in Drake’s “Back to Back,” his lyrics quote as
follows.
“This for
y’all that think that I don’t write enough. They just mad cause I got the Midas
touch. Ya love her then ya gotta get a world tour. Is that a world tour, or
your girl’s tour? I know that you gotta be a thug for her. This ain’t what she
meant when she told you to open up more. Trigger fingers turn to Twitter
fingers. You gettin’ bodied by a singin’ n***a.”
It’s
interesting that Drake mentions his signature style. Several Meek fans state
that Drizzy’s diss tracks aren’t actual “diss tracks,” due to his delivery.
They claim it’s all too “soft.” Though Drake is a fan of the battle rap
culture, battle rap isn’t his style. So, Aubrey Graham appears to be staying
true to who he is and delivering his comebacks in his own way.
The “Back to
Back” Meek Mill diss continues as follows:
“And shout to
all my boss b*****s wifin’ n***s! Make sure you hit ’em with the prenup. Then
tell that man to ease up. I did another one, I did another one. You still ain’t
done s**t about the other one.”
Drake’s “Charged Up” is the other one. Or is he
referring to Daylyt’s “Uncharged Up,” on which he featured?
Whichever he implied, Meek Mill has some addressing to do soon.
Mill’s fans
thought he had finally responded. However, when he uploaded the track online,
people quickly found out that it was just a “troll” post.
While Drake
may not deliver in traditional “battle” protocol and style, he’s certainly
showing that he isn’t backing down from the fight, even as a singing rapper.
Since the first diss track, the ball has been in Mill’s court. However, it
appears that he’s just letting the shotclock run out and turning the ball over
each possession.
What are your
thoughts about Drake’s diss tracks toward Meek? Do you think “Back to Back”
went harder? When will Meek respond? Feel free to share your
thoughts in the comments, below.
