The 2015 Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival (BCMF) will take place
from Wednesday, July 29th to Sunday, August 23rd, showcasing a total of 11
concerts. This year's festival will feature a few special performances,
including one from Roger Walters from Pink Floyd.
"Our 32nd festival tells many stories," shared Marya Martin, Founder and Artistic Director of the Festival. Martin said these different tales show the relationship between Bach and Mendelssohn, the Greek myth of the Heliades and inspiration from the brilliant and much beloved Robin Williams. "These are just a few of the stories we will tell, and we hope our audiences will find many more to take home and share," she said.
Concerts kickoff on Wednesday, July 29th, with a free outdoor event that will feature French music titled "Enchanté." On Saturday, August 1st, Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival will host a Benefit Concert at the Atlantic Gold Club. The evening will include an hour of performances, followed by dinner.
On Sunday, August 9th, composer Kevin Puts' "Rounds for Robin" will debut. The piano and flute piece is a short tribute to Robin Williams. On Monday, August 10th, young composer Mohammed Fairouz will take the stage at the Parrish Art Museum. He will present his new work, "Deep River," which commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery marches, as well as the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War.

On Friday, August 14th, Roger Waters, who is also re-releasing his solo album "Amused To Death" this year, will perform his own take on Igor Stravinsky's "The Soldiers Tale." Waters felt that the work's themes of war, money and temptation were in close affiliation with his own writing on the subjects, and that he could breathe contemporary life into the text by updating it himself. He has spent the last few years playing with the text.
BCMF has been called an "impressive festival that balances the tried and true with the adventurous and mixes established performers with rising talent," by The New York Times.
